1960 Ford Starliner. Recent frame off build of a dry Arizona car, built as a Hotrod,no apologies. 2-3/4" chop, beautiful straight body and paint. 444" FE motor, aluminum heads, solid lifters, tri power, ZF 6 speed, 9inch, 4 wheel disc brakes, power rack. Goes down the road free of vibration, rattles, and wind noise and is a pleasure to drive. Sell or trade for airplane?

It may seem very long, but once you are into it, you can skip around - it is fascinating. The video is about the building of a land speed record car to attempt to go 1000 mph on land, to be driven by fighter pilot Andy Green, who previously broke the land speed record, through the sound barrier. Chris Harris is a British motoring journalist, very witty, knows the questions to ask. This will put to rest any notion that we do anything comparable in sophistication of design or making.

Once a year the best motorcycle riders in California meet for a race on a treacherous 14 mile stretch of the rugged Pacific Coast Highway. The first man to grab the coveted golden trophy at the finish line is the winner. We are the first team invited to race in an automobile. We chose the Audi R8 and filmed it all in 3D.

A very rare and super clean 1988 BMW E28 M5 with Euro bumpers. It has been meticulously maintained and includes service records and original window sticker. Leather is in excellent condition. No dashboard cracks. No accident history. This car has been gone through and is ready to be enjoyed. The pictures speak for themselves and the car is mechanically excellent. Looks and drives great. Stored in a climate controlled garage. The original wheels which need refinishing and new hard to find center caps are included, but with no tires. Sold as is. No Returns.

Those of us with trailers have probably experienced frightening moments when a big rig sails by and you come close to losing control. Ditto for a blow-out! This bad ending appears to be a roll over due to a number of causes. What a shame.

One of the three surviving T-54 Bugattis. I have fixed a cracked bloc, made it pretty and running. While test driving on the road between our small towns I was clocked - but when a cop counted all the rules I have broken, he let me go, otherwise he would be still filing a citation papers. I miss those days...

Another eerie composite from Marc Herman... "Brooklyn – July 28, 1957. Original photo by Paul Bernius. A recently released inmate of the Brooklyn House of Detention had forgotten some clothing, so the obvious solution was to steal a car with two friends to go retrieve it. They didn’t get far, however, coming to a crashing stop against a light pole at Classon Ave. & Pacific St. The auto body shop visible in the background is still in business, though relocated across the street."

Brian Gillespie crashes his Hasport Hondata Insight at El Mirage dry lakes meet Nov 10th, 2013. The safety equipment worked as designed, and he escaped with relatively minor injuries. The car was the season's points champion, and was running between 180-190mph when it turned in. I contacted Brian before this posting and he agreed to YouTube it, later he will be creating something more detailed.

From the excellent Autoliterate blog authored by Peter Behrens... Eagle Nest, New Mexico, 2012. “People like to drive because driving is actually and symbolically an almost perfect mechanism for escape…there is probably no human being who does not have troubles, real or imagined, from which he at times feels the need to flee.” George R. Stewart.

1967 AMC Rambler Amitron Electric Car Concept. In 1968, AMC showed an electric car, the Amitron, a three passenger vehicle powered by Lithium-Nickel batteries. To save weight and provide more hauling room, the seats were inflatable.
With subtle styling changes the Amitron was shown again as the Electron in 1979 as part of AMC's Concept 80 show, featuring four other forward looking prototypes.

A 1957 Ford Fairlane burst into flames Thursday afternoon along southbound Highway 101 in Atascadero.
The Ford Fairlane 500 Skyliner caught fire near the Santa Rosa Road exit just after 3 p.m., according to the California Highway Patrol. The driver was reportedly traveling from Pleasanton to a car club meeting at the Embassy Suites in San Luis Obispo.
A Cal Fire firefighter — who was passing by in a truck equipped with only hand tools and a fire extinguisher — initially tried to put out the fire; the Atascadero Fire Department arrived moments later to finish the job.
No one was hurt in the fire, and a tow truck was called 20 minutes after the incident was reported, the CHP said. The cause of the fire was unknown Thursday afternoon.

The writing-about-writing crowd is abuzz with discussion about the rather unusual death of Buzzfeed/RollingStone/Gawker writer Michael Hastings. Mr. Hastings, whose name is never mentioned in the press without the immediate mention that he was “the fearless journalist whose reporting brought down the career of General Stanley McChrystal”, died in a single-car accident in Los Angeles yesterday morning. This in and of itself is not unusual, but the circumstances of the crash and its aftermath won’t do anything to quiet the conspiracy theorists who are already claiming that the military-industrial complex found a way to cap the guy. The Wheelman, manufactured by Coker Cycle Company, is a modern rendition of the classic Penny-Farthing, high wheel bicycle.
The most eye-catching feature of the Wheelman is its 36-inch front tire and 16-inch rear tire, giving it the classic high wheel look.
Modern details, such as a tig-welded chrome-moly frame, double wall alloy rims, free-wheel hub and Tektro brakes offer a vast improvement in ride comfort and durability compared to the bikes of yesteryear.
A strong frame, great overall balance, and expert assembly make the Wheelman a great choice for the vintage bicycle enthusiast.
Many of the Wheelman's working parts, aside from the Coker button-tread tires are standard bicycle shop items, which makes maintenance and repair quick and affordable.
The new Wheelman is an instant classic and the latest addition to Coker Cycle Company's unique product line.
