In this Video we tear into a 2nd Gen Prius Transmission part by part and do our best to explain what everything is. The video was shot with (2) Video cameras, one was a DSLR with a max 5min record window. We did not have a camera man, so I had to run back every 5 min and restart the camera, somewhere along the line I bumped the white balance and all of the videos where blown out grrr. Next time I will have to find a camera guy to help with things :)

Nice post. Rarely get the opportunity to see this deep into what actually makes these hybrids run.

I'm with you Joetest! I've always had a dream of buying an old prius just to gut it and drop 500 HP of raw muscle under the hood. Leave the entire body stock except for some 4" dual tip straight pipe exhaust, then drive through the streets of SF soaking up the looks of confusion and disgust from all those tree hugging yuppies... I'm smiling just thinking about it...

That's wild. Those CVT trannies are so complex. Here I thought hybrids ran on the tears of hotrodders and racers everywhere.
